3 Ingredient Non-Toxic All-Purpose Cleaner

Have you ever been in the middle of cleaning your home and wondering what types of ingredients are in your cleaning products? A few months ago, I found myself getting headaches while I was cleaning and began to wonder just that.

Standard household cleaners and air fresheners found in stores are filled with many harsh chemicals. Chemicals that we use on our countertops where food is prepared. Chemicals that are inhaled from steam in the shower. There is another way to clean your home without exposing yourself to these chemicals. This all-purpose cleaner is made with simple, all natural ingredients, is affordable, and cleans just as well as store-bought cleaners.

How to Make All-Purpose Cleaner

When I say all-purpose, I mean all-purpose. I use it on everything from dusting and cleaning mirrors to scrubbing the bathroom, kitchen, and floors. I love the smell, and it’s great to not have a cluttered closet full of dozens of different cleaning products. As with many natural cleaners, the primary ingredient is vinegar. You can of course just clean with vinegar and water, but the smell of vinegar can be a little strong for some. By adding in just a couple more steps, you will have cleaner that is free of toxic chemicals yet still smells great and cleans all types of household messes.

Cleaning doesn’t need to be complicated. My cleaning closet now consists of a bucket, a few rags, and one spray bottle. There are only three simple ingredients and three easy steps needed to make this all-purpose cleaner.

All-Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients

- Peels of 4 oranges (lemons or other citrus fruits work great too)
- Vinegar
- Water

Place the peels of four oranges inside a quart-sized mason jar and fill the jar with white vinegar.
Let jar sit at room temperature for two weeks then strain the vinegar.
Pour the vinegar solution into a spray bottle and dilute with a 1:1 ratio of vinegar to water. Add a few drops of essential oils for added scent boost.

That’s it! In a couple weeks you will have an all-purpose cleaner that packs a mean punch.
