Basic Apple Crisp Recipe with Oats

This is a healthy and easy fall treat! Enjoy all the flavors of fall without the tedious work of making crusts for apple pie.

Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 4 cups Sliced Apples sliced in 1/4 thick pieces
  • 1 Tbsp Melted Coconut Oil or Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Salt

Oat Topping

  • 1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Coconut or Coconut Flakes
  • 1/3 cup Pecans or Walnuts chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Melted Coconut Oil or Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup

Instructions
 

Filling

  • Peel and cut apple slices into 1/4 inch thick slices.
  • Melt coconut oil. Toss apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt, and coconut oil. Spread mixture evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.

Oat Topping

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8x8 baking dish with butter or coconut oil.
  • Mix together oats, coconut flakes, pecans, and spices. Melt coconut oil or butter and add to mixture with the maple syrup. Stir until combined.
  • Spread crisp topping evenly over the apples.

Baking

  • 1. Cover baking dish with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, removed the cover and bake for another 10-20 minutes until apples are fork tender and the crisp topping is golden brown.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes for it to cool and to allow the apple filling to set up.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings or by itself and enjoy!
